Preliminary tax levy increase pegged at 3.35 percent

Creating a new position at North Bay City Hall will be partially responsible for forcing the taxy levy up.  The North Bay Nugget says the preliminary hike sits at 3.35 percent.  In part, that’s due to help pay for future WSIB surcharges and the new position.   The Nugget says Deputy Mayor Sheldon Forgette isn’t happy with creating a new position but adds it’s needed because of provincial regulations.  The position, which is to oversee management planning of the city’s assets, will cost about $132,000.  Forgette also says he expects the preliminary 3.35 percent tax levy to change as meetings progress.
