Police locate weaving vehicle after traffic complaint

On November 4, at 6:54 pm, the Powassan Detachment of the OPP received a traffic complaint about a vehicle driving at varying speeds and weaving on Highway 11.

Officers located the vehicle on Clark Street in Powassan and began an investigation. Officers then made a demand for the driver to provide a roadside breath sample. The driver registered a fail. She was placed under arrest and transported to North Bay Police Service headquarters for further breath tests. The breath tests revealed that the driver had over the legal limit of alcohol in her blood.

As a result of the police investigation, a 45-year-old South Himsworth Township woman has been charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol
  • Driving with More than 80 mg of Alcohol in Blood

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

The accused has been released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on November 14.
