Police seek driver of SUV that hit bicyclist

North Bay Police are looking to identify the driver of a dark SUV that struck a bicyclist on Chippewa Street.

Police say on November 7, at approximately 5:50 pm, a bicyclist was struck by a dark coloured SUV making a right-hand turn from the YMCA parking lot on Chippewa Street. The male driver stopped briefly and left the area without providing any information to the cyclist.

Under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario, where an accident occurs, every person in charge of a vehicle that is directly or indirectly involved in the accident shall:

  1.  Remain at or immediately return to the scene of an accident
  2.  Render all possible assistance and
  3.  Give in writing to anyone sustaining loss or injury their name address, driver’s licence, insurance and ownership information.
