Student sit-in planned at Canadore College

After a spirited, yet chilly outdoor student rally Friday, students affected by the four-week plus college faculty strike will sit-in while sheltered this time.

Canadore students will join their brethren from across Ontario for the #ASSTOCLASS movement.

Local co-organizer Andrea Pond says, “The ass to class movement is a neutral movement which has reached pretty much every college in Ontario. The website has been amazingly done and has a great open letter sent to OPSEU and CEC,” including a mandate written by students.

Thursday, November 16, the students will meet in the cafeteria of the main campus on College Drive at 11:30 am. Organizers say they will wait till 12 pm for people to arrive then the students will all walk upstairs to line the halls by the administration office on the third floor in C wing.

Writes James Papp, another local co-organizer via Facebook message: “Not enough is being done to end this strike! Help make our message loud and clear! #wepaytolearn.”
