Capital budget passes, up $500,000 from 2017

Deputy Mayor Sheldon Forgette says that the City of North Bay’s capital budget for 2018 will be up slightly from 2017.

Forgette also says that the final total of capital expenditures is in the neighbourhood of $20 million, up approximately $500,000 from 2017, but could be pushed to $30 million. That figure is dependent on grants awarded from the other levels of government for projects.

Money has been set aside for site preparation for a new arena and an indeterminate amount has been earmarked for King’s Landing and waterfront development. Forgette says the King’s Landing project could range anywhere from $1 million to $13 million depending on the direction from Council.

Forgette confirms that no capital funding is in the budget for the Cassellholme development.
