On November 14, the OPP received a 911 call about a female striking an occupied vehicle with an axe in Mattawa.
The person inside the vehicle drove away, and the accused followed. Mattawa OPP located the vehicles on Main Street and was able to stop them by blocking the bridge.
A 19-year-old female from Mattawa has been arrested and charged with the following:
- Assault with a Weapon x 2 contrary to Section 267(a) of the Criminal Code and
- Spousal Assault contrary to Section 266 of the Criminal Code.
The accused was released on a promise to appear with a date to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Mattawa on January 10, 2018.
