Four-lane luxury coming as Highway 11 project wraps up

After months of drivers becoming mesmerized by yellow traffic pylons (or lane delineators, as they are known officially) in the construction zone on Highway 11, access to all four lanes again will be a real treat.

Lara Cantin, the media advisor for the MTO, says that traffic is expected to return to four lanes early this week.

Cantin adds that in 2018, single lane closures will be required to complete some work. The project between the Lakeshore Drive interchange and the Highway 11/17 interchange had a planned completion date in 2017. Cantin says although the majority of the work is complete, some has been pushed to 2018.

According to the MTO, work still to be completed this season: some paving, removal of lane delineators, pavement markings, sign installation, guide rail work, and placing delineators at median crossover locations.

In 2018, work that will involve some intermittent single-lane closures: paving, removal of median crossovers, guide rail work, pavement markings, and installation of rumble strips.
