The wheels are in motion to potentially house a casino in North Bay across from the hospital. City council will announce a public meeting date on the matter after the property owners applied for a re-zoning and change to the Official Plan. The North Bay Nugget identifies the site as the former Nordfibre property on Eloy Road. The Nugget says it’s not known at this time if Gateway Casinos is interested in the west-end location. Gateway rejected two earlier sites on Pinewood Park Drive; the former Moe-Ze-On-Inn and the empty land across from the former hotel bar and strip club. Last year council re-zoned both sites to accommodate a casino, but the sites were ruled out by OLG.
