News Local Director of Education may lose out on promotion due to recent media policy SHARE ON: Stu Campaigne, staff Monday, Nov. 27th, 2017 Near North District School Board has received recommendations from the Ombudsman of Ontario. (Stu Campaigne, MyNorthBayNow.com staff) Director of Education for the Near North District School Board Jackie Young has been facing questions about a policy she attempted to adopt in September. The policy urged parents to go through the proper channels when addressing issues with the school board, rather than go to the media first. An email sent to the North Bay Nugget by Young in September to clarify the policy indicated that the board would no longer speak about such matters unless the principal and the board had been included first. The Toronto Star is reporting that Young is being considered for a position in York Region and has faced questions about the events in September. Thought to be one of the shortlist candidates for the York job, the Star says that the Near North policy misstep may affect her chances as that board has faced complaints in the past about communication with parents.
