The committee meeting has been cancelled for tonight and the regular meeting of the whole has been bumped up to 6:30pm.

Several notable items on the agenda for tonight, including reports from the engineering and works committee on the 2018 water/wastewater operating budget, as well as three readings of by-laws to pass both the water rates and budget.

The budget is sitting at a 1.96 per cent increase over 2017, and the committee is recommending that Council approves it.

Also, recommendations from the general government committee that amendments to the on-street parking permits and user fees, such as ice rental rates, be approved.

Also up for consideration is the rezoning of the former Bethel Gospel Church property, as well as the rezoning application from the group behind the Pinewood Park arena proposal.

Speaking of arenas, the special arena committee is recommending that Council direct City staff to begin a competitive process for the possible arena sites not owned by the City.

According to its report, the arena committee feels it will be beneficial to have Council consider the alternative sites.

The arena committee will continue its mandate to recommend the type of facility, the preferred location among City-owned sites, and to lay out potential financial options for consideration by Council.

The committee has laid out a 3-4 month timeframe to properly examine the alternative sites.
