Special arena committee to focus on City-owned options

After last night’s Council meeting, arena committee member and Councillor Daryl Vaillancourt confirmed that the possible arena sites that could be built on land not owned by the city will be handled by City staff, not Council directly.

Vaillancourt adds that the committee has been extended for three or four more months to examine, in more detail, the Memorial Gardens or Omischl Complex options. He says that the geotechnical studies do not favour either City-owned site.

The committee will present to Council its recommendation for the number of ice pads to be built in the coming months. Once that is decided,  Vaillancourt says that costing can begin to give a solid idea as to what the new complex will cost.
