Driving suspensions no deterrent to man involved in collision

On Friday at 6:40pm, members of the North Bay OPP Detachment responded to a motor vehicle collision on the Highway 11/17 bypass near Cassells Street. The complainant advised that the other involved driver had left the scene.

Officers began an investigation into the collision. The other driver was located by police a short time later. The driver was found to have had three different driver’s licence suspensions and officers determined that he had been consuming alcohol while driving.

The driver, a 49-year-old Renfrew County man has been charged with the following:

  • Driving While Disqualified x 2
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana
  • Driving While Under Suspension
  • Driving a Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor

The accused has been released on a promise to appear and Highway Traffic Act summons with a date to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on January 23, 2018.
