Man on conditions to abstain from alcohol drinks…and then heads to police station

A 35-year-old North Bay man met one of two conditions of his release.

On Friday at 4:40pm, the man, under conditions to sign-in weekly at the North Bay Detachment of the OPP, arrived at the station and was subsequently arrested and charged with failing to comply with the recognizance.

The officer who spoke to him says he could smell a strong odour of alcohol on his breath. The officer began an investigation and found that the male was also bound by a condition of the recognizance not to consume alcohol.

The accused has been held for bail and released on an undertaking given to a Justice. He is to return to court on December 5, at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay.
