North Bay’s future deputy mayor wants to see better winter road maintenance in the city. Sheldon Forgette says snow banks on city streets build to high, and can sometimes make it hard for drivers to see people walking. He would like to investigate if there’s room to increase to budget, or at the very least replenish the winter maintenance reserves. Forgette feels that by investing in winter road maintenance, it would relieve the budget pressures of police, fire, paramedics, and the hospital, because there would be fewer crashes.
