Watch for Santa on Main Street December 16th and 23rd

If you’re shopping in downtown North Bay tomorrow or the following Saturday, watch for Santa.  The Downtown Improvement Area has made arrangements with the Big Guy to take time from his North Pole duties and visit retailers and greet shoppers as they look for Christmas gifts.  DIA executive director Jeff Serran says it’s all about getting people in the Christmas spirit.  “It brings that season magic to the heart of North Bay,” Serran said.

Tomorrow is the second of Santa’s three stops with the new promotion the DIA board developed.  As Santa drops by the Main Street shops, he’s also stopping to talk to adults and children and handing out candy canes and brochures to increase awareness about what the downtown has to offer.

Serran says as Santa makes his way along Main Street, he’s encouraging the public to take selfies with him and post them.  At the end of next week on Saturday, Serran says there will be a draw to pick a winner from all the posted images and that person will win a gift certificate good for the downtown.  Serran says the success of the Santa campaign will be measured by the number of selfies taken and posted as well as shared.  Santa is available from 10:00am to 3:00pm.
