Team Canada didn’t miss this Point

Colton Point continues to pull off some rare feats.

It has been a few years since goaltender Point turned heads with a 107-save performance as a midget player.

Now, the North Bay-native has been named to the final roster for Canada’s World Junior Championship team. He is the first player from North Bay to play for Canada in the heavily-covered holiday tournament.

Point, a draftee of the NHL’s Dallas Stars, is currently attending Colgate University, and his hot start and excellent numbers put him squarely on Team Canada’s radar. In the recent selection camp, Point continued his scintillating play, beating out OHL standout Michael DiPietro for one of the goalie spots alongside Carter Hart, who made the Canadian team last year.

Team Canada will play their first game of the tournament in Buffalo, N.Y., at 4:00pm on Boxing Day
