Aboriginal Chief delivers warning shot at mining convention

It’s a warning to mining companies in Ontario. The Grand Chief of the Anishinabek Nation for Lake Huron says no mining venture will succeed unless First Nations are involved. That’s what Isadore Day has personally told delegates at the prospectors and developers conference in Toronto. Day says when it comes to developing mines in Ontario, First Nations must be considered equal partners in all stages of development. He says issues like money, social impact and environmental protection need to be talked about when new mines want to open. Day is also chief of the Serpent River First Nation.
