Local trails not quite ready for snowmobile season

If you get a new snow machine for Christmas, you might have to wait a little longer to use it in the area.

The North Bay Snowmobile Club’s Shawn Flindall says it is a case of “better safe than sorry.”

Trails are not quite ready to go for snowmobilers for the holidays in North Bay, but that does not mean that there are no options for some festive riding.

Flindall points out that the farther north you get, like the Cochrane and Kapuskasing areas, the better the conditions are this time of year. He adds that, locally, the fish hatchery near Redbridge has good snow depth.

Flindall says the North Bay trails should be open right on schedule in January, dependant on snow and cold weather. Snowmobilers can check the status of the trails on the NBSC website.
