Local product makes history at World Juniors

It’s official. Colton Point has become the first native of North Bay to dress for Canada in an IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships game.

Point, 19, was cheered on by family and friends at the game in Buffalo on Boxing Day. He attends nearby Colgate University and is having a highly successful season as the starting goaltender for the Raiders. He served as the backup to Carter Hart in the 4-2 victory over Finland.

There is a possibility that Point will start a game for Team Canada to give the veteran Hart a rest as the team plays two back-to-backs in the round robin portion of the tournament.
