On December 26 at 9:40pm, members of the Powassan Detachment of the OPP had been conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in Powassan.
A vehicle approached, and when officers spoke to the driver, they say they detected an odour of alcohol coming from the driver’s breath.
As a result of the police investigation, a 53-year-old Nipissing Township man has been charged with:
- impaired operation of a motor vehicle
- driving with more than 80mg of alcohol in his blood
The accused has been issued a 90-day automatic driver’s licence suspension, and the vehicle has been impounded for seven days. He has been released on a promise to appear to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay, on January 16, 2018
