North Bay and surrounding areas remain under an extreme cold warning issued by Environment Canada and that will likely be the case at least until tomorrow.
Temperatures overnight into Thursday are forecasted to reach a low of minus 29C, with a wind chill of minus 38C.
Daytime Thursday shows an expected high of minus 21C, with a low of minus 23C.
At noon Wednesday, the temperature in downtown North Bay was minus 28C, with a reading of minus 40C with the wind chill.

A period of very cold wind chills continues.
Extreme wind chill values of minus 40 or below were reported this morning.
Wind chills will moderate during the daytime hours, however, wind chill values near minus 40 or below are expected again tonight.
Extreme cold puts everyone at risk.
Watch for cold-related symptoms: shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.
Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frostbite and hypothermia.
