Point Zero!

Zero, as in goals allowed by Colton Point.

Zero, as in the amount of doubt about whether Colton Point belongs on hockey’s world stage at the under-20 level.

One day after becoming the first North Bay native to dress for a World Junior Hockey Championships game, goaltender Point got the call to start for Team Canada in the annual holiday tournament being held in Buffalo, N.Y., this year.

The Colgate University standout acquitted himself well, earning a 6-0 shutout win over an overmatched Slovakian side. He made all 20 saves in the game and his career World Juniors goals against average sits at 0.00, where it will remain if veteran Carter Hart is the man in net for Team Canada the rest of the way.

Team Canada is now 2-0 and next plays Friday, when, weather permitting, they will face the Americans in the first outdoor game in World Juniors history. The Canadians close out the round robin portion of the schedule with a matchup versus Denmark, Saturday.
