Suspected drug trafficker finds highway slow-moving with a high probability of ‘snow’

Following a traffic stop, an OPP officer began an investigation that resulted in a 29-year-old Quebec man’s arrest for drug trafficking.

On December 29, at 11:55am, the officer from the North Bay OPP stopped the man’s vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Highway 17 in East Ferris Township.

Upon speaking to the driver, the officer initiated the investigation. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of suspected cocaine and a small amount of suspected marijuana.

The man has been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine
  • Trafficking of Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana – Under 30 Grams

The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay.
