United Way Volunteer Awards seeking nominations

Celebrate the volunteer achievements of young people in our community by making a nomination for the GenNext Volunteer Awards.

United Way North East Ontario and its GenNext Program are seeking nominations for its sixth annual GenNext Volunteer Awards.

The awards recognize volunteers aged 20 to 39 for exceptional work in his or her community. They celebrate young people who strive to create opportunities for a better life for everyone in our community and who are determined to volunteer their time and expertise to help those in need.

There are eight award categories: Volunteer Excellence Award, Active Living and Wellbeing, Animal Welfare, Arts and Culture, Environmental Advocacy, Leadership, Mentorship and Social Justice. Self-nominations will also be accepted.

Winners emulate the true spirit of volunteerism and are recognized for their passion, dedication and community impact. GenNext emphasizes that it will be accepting nominations from across United Way’s geographic region. Eligible districts include Cochrane, Greater Sudbury, Nipissing, Parry Sound, Sudbury-Manitoulin and Timiskaming.

The deadline for submissions is Friday, March 23. For more information, or for a nomination package, please contact Sarah Dost at [email protected] or by calling 705-560-3330 ext. 216. Nomination packages can also be accessed by visiting United Way’s website at www.uwcneo.com.
