Maroosis doesn’t know if rejecting out-of-town dealership bid will result in fallout

North Bay councillor George Maroosis isn’t sure if there will be any  fallout after council rejected a low bid to buy eight pick-up trucks from an out-of-town dealership.  At $269,178,92, Highbury Ford of London had the lowest Request For Proposal but council rejected it in a 5-4 vote.   Two of the four bids were from local dealerships.   The two local bids were Farquhar Chrysler, which finished second in the process, and Stockfish Ford which placed fourth.   Maroosis favoured the Highbury bid.

Moose News asked him if Highbury has any legal options at its disposal.   “It’s one of those things you have to wait and see if someone is going to challenge the decision,” said the councillor.   He added it was up to Highbury to decide the next course of action and if it might look at its legal options.   “It depends on their management.  There are some companies that would accept what’s happened because they might be looking to do work in the future.”   Maroosis said more than that he couldn’t say because the Moose questions were of a legal nature.  Since the vote, Maroosis doesn’t know if Highbury Ford has been in contact with City Hall.   Moose News contacted Highbury Ford but the dealership said it wasn’t in a position to talk to us about this matter.
