A vehicle travelling at more than 70 km/hour over the posted speed limit caught the attention of an officer from the North Bay Detachment of the OPP early Saturday morning.
The officer had been conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 11 near Callander when a vehicle approached at a high rate of speed.
The officer stopped the vehicle and conducted an investigation. As a result, a 19-year-old Powassan man has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance
- Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed
The vehicle has been seized for seven days and the man’s driver’s licence has been suspended for seven days.
The accused has been released on an appearance notice and a summons to attend at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on February 20.
