Criminal negligence causing death among additional charges laid in November death on bypass

Nearly two months after the death of husband and father Travis Wright from a motor vehicle collision on Highway 11/17 at Seymour Street, additional charges have been laid on the other driver involved.

Wright was a married father of two and a retired member of the military who was attending school in North Bay to become a paramedic. He was 36 when he was killed on November 28, 2017.

Joseph Edward Fitzgerald, age 28, of Huntsville has also been charged with the following:

  • Operation of a Motor Vehicle with Over 80 Milligrams of Alcohol Causing Death
  • Criminal Negligence Causing Death

In the wake of the initial November incident, Fitzgerald had been charged with impaired driving causing death, failure to stop at the scene of an accident, assault with intent to resist arrest and breach of probation.
