Early morning sobriety check leads to charges

A 46-year-old East Ferris woman faces impaired charges after being pulled over by OPP officers.

Wednesday at 2:29am, officers from the North Bay Detachment of the OPP stopped a vehicle on Highway 11, in North Bay to check the sobriety of the driver.

After speaking to the driver, she was placed under arrest for impaired driving. The driver was transported to West Nipissing Police Service for breath tests. The tests revealed that she had over the legal limit of alcohol in her blood.

The driver has been charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol
  • Driving with More Than 80mg of Alcohol in Blood
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance

The accused has been issued an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

She has been released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on February 13.
