Mattawa tenants still not allowed back into building hit by transport trailer

The Mattawa tenants displaced when a transport trailer crashed into their apartment building still aren’t being allowed back home.   Four of the units remain unlivable until the damage is repaired.      But the tenants on the east-side of the building could get back in as long as the crash didn’t damage the plumbing, electrical and heating.  The insurance adjuster is having this equipment inspected.  In the meantime, the tenants continue to live with family or are staying at hotels.   The transport ran into the building the evening of January 22nd.    Although the driver of the rig wasn’t hurt, a tenant in the building received minor injuries.   The driver, who is from New Brunswick, was charged with careless driving.   When OPP arrived on the scene, they were surprised that no one was killed considering the tractor portion of the big truck had gone into the apartment building.
