Collingwood man faces impaired and possession charges after police stop in North Bay

A 28-year-old Collingwood, Ontario man faces impaired and drug possession charges after being stopped for a sobriety check by the OPP early Monday.

He has also been issued an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and the vehicle has been impounded for seven days after officers from the North Bay Detachment of the OPP pulled him over at 12:50am Monday in North Bay.

After speaking to the driver, officers detected an odour of alcohol on his breath. He was transported to the detachment for breath tests. The tests revealed that he had over the legal limit of alcohol in his blood.

As a result of the police investigation the driver has been charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol
  • Driving with More Than 80 mg of Alcohol in Blood
  • Possession of a Schedule II Substance

He has been released on a promise to appear in court March 6.
