$3.3 million to create new childcare spaces

Approximately $3.3 million in funding will help two schools in North Bay expand services to include child care for children up to four years of age.

St. Francis Elementary School will see the addition of 73 new child care spaces and Mother St. Bride Elementary School will accommodate 49 new child care spaces. This announcement is part of the Province of Ontario’s commitment to helping 100,000 children access quality licensed child care over the next five years.

The Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic District School Board in partnership with the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board (DNSSAB) are pleased to announce the new funding from the Ministry of Education to create these additional child care spaces at these schools in North Bay.

DNSSAB Chair Mark King says childcare expansion means more sports open and improved access to childcare. King adds that this advances economic growth within the district.

Board Chair Barbara McCool says that childcare is an essential service that also serves as an important transition for children as they approach school age.
