News Bonhomme Carnaval revealed SHARE ON: Stu Campaigne, staff Monday, Feb. 12th, 2018 Photo credit: Stu Campaigne, Moose FM It is one of the enduring traditions of the Carnaval des Compagnons. Who is under the costume of Bonhomme Carnaval? This year, in the 55th year of the carnival celebrating French-Canadian culture, it was Anita Corriveau. She is a teacher from Algonquin who says that even some of her colleagues had no idea she was beneath the costume. Although finding out Bonhomme’s true identity is one of the big reveals of the carnival, events continue until Wednesday. There will be an art exhibit featuring Francophone art Tuesday at the Capitol Centre and a winter Olympics-like event at Saints-Anges school. Le Carnaval is hailed as the largest French-language carnival outside of Quebec.
