Snow levels well below 2017 readings

They will be even lower due to the recent rain, but at the time this survey was taken on February 15, the area’s snow levels measured approximately 20 cm below this time last year (close to record highs).

Although snow depth is back in line with the long-term average for this time of year, the water content in the snow pack is approximately 20 per cent below average, reports the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority as part of its flood forecasting program.

Snow is measured for depth and water equivalence in North Bay, Corbeil, and Chisholm Township.

Data for the season can be found on the NBMCA website. The next snow survey date is March 1.
