City crews out in force to deal with aftermath of rain and warm weather

Mayor Al McDonald has posted the City of North Bay’s reaction to the warm weather and challenging road conditions in the area to his personal Facebook page.

The Mayor writes that a full complement of City staff, including employees drawn from the Parks, Water, and Sewer departments are out addressing major problem areas such as Thelma, Marshall and Cassells. Calls are being prioritized as they come in. Areas where there is the potential for flooding are a priority.

McDonald adds that full crews are out sanding side roads and sidewalks and that caution should be taken on the back streets.

Chair of Public Works Tanya Vrebosch says the area is experiencing a great deal of water runoff from the thaw caused by the weather the past two days. City staff are all out clearing drains and it is all hands on deck for drainage duty.

Vrebosch adds that due to the thaw, potholes have returned, so drive carefully. If you have any concerns, contact Public Works, who are available around the clock at 705.474.4340.
