Coping with legalized marijuana in the workplace

In a few short months the federal government will legalize marijuana use.  This includes smoking marijuana for both medical and non-medical reasons.  Once the drug is legalized, there’s the question of how employers deal with it in the workplace.   To help answer those questions, Workplace Safety North is hosting an information meeting next month in North Bay.

The agency says the use of medical marijuana is quickly becoming a very contentious issue.   To better understand the proposed law, Workplace Safety North will have a one day session to help employers better understand the changes.   The meeting will also examine the health and safety implications of marijuana in the workplace and how to manage the change especially in industries that are safety-sensitive.

The information will be explained during a regular series Workplace Safety North calls The Feed Your Brain Lunch and Learn Series.  The March 22nd session address drugs and alcohol in the workplace and includes a complimentary light lunch.   Because seating is limited, employers are encouraged to register as soon as possible.  To register click here
