People in these parts sure are fascinated with moose.
Last fall, a moose wading in the water off the shore of Lake Nipissing near downtown North Bay caused a social media frenzy. People came by the hundreds to take photos and video of the moose, causing traffic to come to a standstill on Memorial Drive.
North Bay OPP is trying to avoid a similarly dangerous situation involving a moose, this time in the area of Highway 11 and Proudfoot Road, near Powassan. Police are advising motorists to slow down in this area as a large moose has been wandering around nearby, even approaching the highway.
Officers are reporting that vehicles are stopping to view the moose which could lead to traffic hazards.
