Early morning driver clocked going 160 km/h

A 20-year-old Callander man has been charged with stunt driving after being pulled over by officers from the Powassan Detachment of the OPP.

The man had his driver’s licence suspended for seven days and the vehicle impounded for seven days after police say they clocked him driving approximately 60 km/h over the posted 100 km/h speed limit early Friday morning, at 2:25am. Officers had been conducting radar patrol on Highway 11, near Proudfoot Road in Powassan, when the vehicle approached at a high rate of speed.

The driver has been released on a summons to attend court on April 6 at Provincial Offences Court in North Bay.
