Novice driver’s night does not go swimmingly

Police responding to a single vehicle collision found a passenger vehicle partially submerged in water in a ditch.

Just before 8:00pm on Friday, the Powassan Detachment of the OPP responded to the motor vehicle collision in the Trout Creek area. Officers conducted an investigation into the single-vehicle collision and arrested a male at the scene.

As a result of the police investigation, a 20-year-old North Bay man has been arrested and charged with:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired by Alcohol
  • Driving with More Than 80 mg of Alcohol in Blood
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Novice Driver – Blood Alcohol Content Above Zero

The accused has been issued an automatic 90-day driver’s licence suspension and has been released on a promise to appear and a summons and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on March 13.
