Ford is without a seat so Fedeli remains Leader of the Opposition in the Legislature

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is giving the new leader of the Ontario PCs his full support.

Doug Ford won the leadership vote Saturday, narrowly defeating Christine Elliott.

The race was necessitated after former leader Patrick Brown stepped down as leader amid sexual misconduct allegations. Brown later sued over those allegations and attempted to re-enter the race before again removing himself from contention.

While campaigning in Northern Ontario recently, Ford has positioned himself as pro-Ring of Fire and pro-passenger train service.

Fedeli has been serving as the interim leader and will remain the Leader of the Opposition in the legislature because Ford does not currently have a seat.
