FedNor minister Greg Rickford says the federal NDP are becoming desperate. He says that’s why members like Charlie Angus claim the feds are not spending money in the FedNor budget. Angus, the member for Timmins- James Bay, says $11-million of FedNor money went back to the treasury. Rickford admits this but says it’s purely an accounting procedure and adds the money will be spent on projects like enhancing broadband technology and manufacturing. Rickford believes NDP MP’s jumped on the FedNor issue to divert attention away from what their leader Thomas Mulcair is saying about northern industries. Rickford says Mulcair has been known to call mining and forestry diseases. He adds contrary to what Angus claims that the FedNor budget had the support of Parliament, he says the NDP voted against it.
