North Bay native and Nipissing Lakers hockey star Maria Dominico has been named the U Sports Women’s Hockey Rookie of the Year for 2017-18.
This is a national award that includes every university hockey program across the country. Dominico led the Lakers in scoring with 15 goals (second nationally) and 26 points, good for sixth across Canada this season.
Dominico had previously won the OUA award for first-year players.
It is an amazing honour recognizing Dominico’s first season as a Laker and the best part is she’ll be back next season looking to top this year’s results and to help push the program toward its first OUA championship.
