Assault clearances by police up significantly over last year

Deputy Chief Scott Tod highlighted some details from a report containing crime stats for January that, compared to the same period last year, look promising.

According to the crime stats, drug charges and break and enters are down, compared to last year. Sexual offences are also down from January 2017.

There is a slight increase from January 2017 to January 2018 when it comes to assaults, a rise from 31 to 33. But, Tod says clearance of assaults also rose to 47 this year, compared to just 28 one year ago.
