Transit funding will build sidewalks to address accessibility problem areas

Some more details on the nearly $27 million in government funding for North Bay Transit announced Friday by MP Anthony Rota.

The transit initiatives are designed to improve accessibility and access, modernize and add new technology, and make capital improvements.

Managing Director of Community Services John Severino says first and foremost, accessibility and security are on the minds of North Bay Transit. After challenging winters the past couple of years, Severino says sidewalks to improve access to transit stops will be added.

Last fall, the City added a sidewalk to a stretch of road on McKeown Avenue that caused safety issues the previous winter. Severino says a troublesome stop on Shirreff Avenue will also be addressed.
