Date chosen for tentative reopening of Dionne Home

The Dionne Quints Heritage Board has announced that the group is working toward an opening of the home on August 5.

The Board is pleased to announce that the birth of the Dionne Quintuplets has been designated as an historical event that helped define Canadian history. The Minister responsible for Parks Canada, Catherine McKenna made the announcement.

Annette and Cécile Dionne plan to attend the (tentative) opening. A plaque commemorating the birth of the Dionne Quintuplets will be installed at the Dionne Home on this day. Government officials will also be in attendance.

The Board says in a release that it is hoping to begin landscaping in early July, subject to the completion of the springtime construction of necessary infrastructure services near the home.

The Dionne Quints Heritage Board wishes to extend a special thank you to Minister McKenna for her support with respect to the Dionne Quints. The Board welcomes the opportunity to foster a renewed appreciation and respect for this significant part of our area’s history.
