The names of two local residents who died in a head-on collision yesterday morning on Highway 17, east of North Bay, have been released.
Matthew Menard, a 20-year-old Bonfield man and Gilbert Lavoie, 58, of North Bay were the drivers of the vehicles and both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers from the North Bay Detachment of the OPP and the Highway Safety Division are continuing their investigation into the collision between the pickup truck driven by Menard, and the minivan driven by Lavoie.
Highway 17 was closed for approximately six hours in the aftermath of the crash until it reopened late yesterday afternoon.
