Tree chopped down on NBMCA property…

Someone’s made Santa’s naughty list. That’s according to the North Bay Mattawa Conservation Authority, who believe someone cut down a tree on their property for Christmas. Volunteers from EcoPath were walking along the trail by Chippewa Creek when they noticed a 10-foot tall white spruce tree had been chopped down. Trees planted along the creek are to protect the natural habit, and reduce stream and bank erosion. Damage of conservation lands is an offence under the Conservation Authorities Act of Ontario, and the culprit could face over 100-dollar fine.
