Hockey fans, thousands of others left in the dark

Quite a few hockey fans were left in the dark as to who won the Stanley Cup playoff game last night.

The lights came on just as many were going to bed, thanks to some swift work by North Bay Hydro in dealing with a wide scale power outage, but the series-clinching win for Vegas was already over.

Power had been completely restored by 11:25pm, just over two hours after 3,300 customers were left in the dark last night.

Areas affected included Highway 11 North, Thibeault Terrace, Ski Club and Airport Hill. North Bay Hydro says the outage was caused by a failed substation transformer.
