The new Health Unit offices in North Bay will be open to the public today.
It was in 2014 that the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit purchased land for the construction of the new building and the overall project was approved at a maximum cost of $20,000,000. The Health Unit says all costing and estimates received to date are within the allocated budget
The new offices are located at 345 Oak Street West and all programs and services in North Bay, including those at 681 Commercial Street, 222 McIntyre Street and 700 Cassells Street have moved to the new location.
The Health Unit says the new building increases efficiency and access to services while being accessible by all bus routes and close to bike and walking paths. There is also parking available.
With close proximity to the waterfront and bike and walking paths, the Health Unit hopes that their new location will itself promote wellness and physical activity for staff, clients and stakeholders.
The location has been chosen to help revitalize the downtown core and encourage the public to utilize the programs offered.
