News Zumbathon for Cystic Fibrosis Awareness SHARE ON: Stu Campaigne, staff Tuesday, May. 15th, 2018 Photo supplied Over 120 people danced last Friday night away as the Studio hosted their 6th annual Zumbathon to raise funds and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis, at Alliance French Immersion Public Schoool. Organizers say over $12,000 was raised towards research and awareness and, hopefully, creating a world without CF. Currently, 143 therapies are in the development stages, 60 of them are currently in clinical trials, and of the 60, 45 are disease modifiers. This would not be possible without the funds raised during events like this Zumbathon. The next hurdle in awareness is getting the government to recognize the need to fund access to certain pharmaceutical therapies which are currently available, but extremely unaffordable for Canadian CF families.
