Fedeli warns of dire consequences under Liberal and NDP governments

Vic Fedeli is sounding the alarm bell if the public votes in a Liberal or NDP government.

The Tory incumbent for Nipissing used the former Arclin plant in North Bay to make his point.

Fedeli said expensive electricity under the Liberals forced the plant to close in 2014 and those high power costs continue to keep businesses out of Ontario.

“Google and Amazon opened their first ever data centres in Canada in Quebec because of (cheap power), Fedeli said.

Fedeli says although Arclin is gone, the province needs to approach other companies and tell them Ontario is open for business.

He says the Tories propose to do this by lowering hydro by 12 per cent and dropping corporate taxes.

On the issue of taxes, Fedeli says the NDP are proposing higher corporate taxes.

He adds another NDP platform threatens to wipe out more jobs in North Bay.

Fedeli says the NDP want to shut down the nuclear plant at Pickering which not only means direct job losses but also indirect losses.

He says there are many businesses in North Bay that supply the nuclear sector with goods and eliminating nuclear means those local jobs will also disappear.

Moose news has asked Liberal candidate Stephen Glass and Henri Giroux who is running for the NDP for comment.
